Canadians are entitled to be embarrassed by images of a blubbering Peter MacKay fawning over US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice following their meeting in Washington DC yesterday. Acting like a teen aged boy who just met Paris Hilton, he seemed to forget that his objective, as foreign minister, should include establishing a level playing field with Ms Rice. But it's not the first time Peter has lost his senses when facing a pretty woman.
Peter also needs to get his act together with regards to his boss. He keeps tripping-up and contradicting the PM: after the PM said the new US entry rules to take affect Jan 1, 2007 are a "done deal", Peter says he is off to DC to discuss changes to the rules to ameliorate the impact on Canada's economy. Nothing like a having a "frat jock" representing a government that can't get its message clear.
