New Cabinet comments

This just in - so no in-depth analysis. Just a few instant reactions.

Vic Toews out of Justice and over to Treasury Board – looks like a move to portray the government is not a “hard right” as this nut bag of a Justice minister suggested (damn the lawyers and the law/constitution – roll Canada back to the 19th century. Presumably he will support a smaller civil service as the Cabinet expands.

John Baird from Treasury Board to Environment – the Cons are being killed on this issue and Dion is a champion on the issue – give it to the bulldog who will rant and rave but will be have any substance? He never let facts get in the way of rhetoric. Of course he is the PM’s wife designated escort when the PM is out of town and/or she is attending something cultural.

Rona Ambrose – fired from Environment and sent to Intergovernmental Affairs; maybe we will learn if the problem was her or the portfolio.

Bob Nicholson to Justice - just as right-wing as Toews but maybe not so inclined to stupid comments or as anti-lawyer.

Jason Kenney as minister of multiculturalism to attract Toronto voters – this is an April Fool joke, right?

Some inconsequential swaps – need more analysis.

O’Connor survived at Defence – why?

No media availability after the ceremony at Rideau Hall – no change there. The PM and the ministers are leaving without a word to the media.
