buying favourable media headlines an election expense

I missed this originally while I was out of the country and am thankful for being alerted to it by another blogger.

It has been common knowledge for sometime that certain “blogs” sell access and, as Canadian Press reports, this has come to the attention of Elections Canada. If political parties are buying space on blogs, as the CPC is suspected and the Liberal Party of Ontario seems to be acknowledging, then this certainly should be counted as election spending in the same way as broadcast or print media “advertorials” would be.

Regrettably, I doubt Elections Canada has the means or resources to investigate and expose how political parties exploit this new media channel.

EXARO does not and will not accept advertising from any source.
