One has to wonder just how far federal auditor Sheila Fraser will go in her efforts to destroy the Liberal Party and everyone associated with it. And clearly the woman is out of her mind.
Her report on the federal sponsorship program, arguably, was the single most significant factor in bringing down the previous Liberal government. Far exceeding the role of an auditor and placing herself in a decision-making, managerial capacity, Fraser strode boldly before public forums to proclaim her opposition to policy decisions of the government as well as accounting errors. Make no mistake - I support an auditor's responsibility to identify improper accounting and to strive to ensure funds are spent as Parliament authorized. But Fraser went much further and condemned the policies approved by a majority government in Parliament.
Now Fraser is at it again with the leak of a report on the federal gun registry which seems to be crafted by the CPC's American PR advisers to heap more embarrassment on the Liberals. But, in commenting on the leak, Fraser shows she just how far off the wall she operates:
"In our opinion, there is no breach of the law," Ms. Fraser told the Public Accounts Committee. Instead, she called the leak a statutory disregard for Parliament." The Globe and Mail
"Statuatory disregard for Parliament"! Is the woman on crack, or how does she think up such drivel? Combined with the inordinant number of leaks during her tenure as auditor one has to wonder if it is not part of a strategy to destabilize the Liberal Party.
