Scott Brison, in my opionion, gets it best. What we have is another example of Harper's "fundamential lack of understanding of Canadian institutions". It's analagous to Harper's disdain for the Supreme Court when it is not ruling as he thinks it should. The same for the Senate or the Privacy Commissioner. Now he has revealed that, if the voters in a province choose a government that is not to his liking, he will actively work to defeat that government as he did during his appearance at the Ontario PC rally on Thursday night.
As Brison continued, Harper is "obligated constitutionally and morally to work with the Premiers". We know already that Harper has little use for the Constitution and his lack of morals when it comes to getting his way politically are increasingly evident.
An interesting side-note on the weekend was Senator Fortier's rejection of most of the Gommery Report. His answer to the improprieties in Public Works Canada is to open up supply and purchasing in a free-for-all that would remove the checks and balances on the bureaucrats that the Judge recommended. Definitely, the times they are a changing.
