Hardly on the same scale as York University's bid to host the Ontario Archives, but a nice success for McMaster University. The National Post reports today that the Hamilton university has acquired the personal papers of Leslie McFarlane who authored 20 of the Hardy Boys mystery books. Like many of my generation, and millions since, these books taught me and the boys in my elementary school the art of speed-reading as we rushed to discover the answers to the mysteries. I suspect many of us also had a crush on either Joe or Frank which contributed to our fond memories of this literature of our youth. So congratulations McMaster.
