The question is who will be assigned with blaming this on the Liberals?
The Globe and Mail reports today that Public Works Canada lost control of a project to reduce government procurement expenses. Daniel LeBlanc writes that the Harper government signed a $24 million, seven-year consulting contract with a target of saving $2.3 billion over five years. Not a poor expected return, except the department spent through the $24 million in one year and no savings were achieved. Two of the consultants did earn $57,000 a month however. Adding insult to the injury to Canadian taxpayers – the deputy minister in charge of the project was removed and reassigned to “training to be ambassador to the Barbados”. It gives a whole new spin to ”fire me, please“.
But don’t we just know someone in the PMO is working up an explanation that this is all the result of Liberal corruption and mismanagement and Dion’s lack of leadership. Having instituted fixed election dates, Harper may have some explaining to do concerning his government’s record by the time he goes to the polls.
