Shamefully, the NDP wants Conrad Black stripped of his Order of Canada [Toronto Star] on the basis that he has been convicted of a criminal offence in the USA. Note - he has been found guilty by a jury and his attorneys have announced they will appeal the decision. In other words, the case is not over. While I have my views on the likelihood of a successful appeal and on the merits of Lord Black’s membership in the Order of Canada, I accept that he is innocent until proven guilty and all avenues of appeal have pursued to their end.
Would the NDP be as quick to deny a welfare mother the fundamental rights to justice or do they just have it in for rich white males?
