if you like proportional representation, you have to like this

Today’s historic agreement between the Liberal Party of Canada and the New Democratic Party to form a 30 month coalition is just the sort of thing that would be the norm, if not mandatory, should proportional representation come to Canada. Fans of PR must be delighted today.

As for Stephen Harper’s claim that the people of Canada elected a CPC government, not one comprised of today’s coalition, it must be noted that the Liberals and NDP got 3/4 of a million more votes than the CPC in the 2008 election. Together they may have less seats in the House of Commons than the CPC, but Harper better take care with his strategic arguments.
