shocking

A fellow blogger alerted me to this exceptional admission of the shortcomings of the fourth estate by at least one of its members. Josée Legault writes in the Montréal Gazette of the appalling lack of knowledge of Canada’s Parliamentary democracy and acknowledges that the media are partly to blame at least. Polling by the Dominion Institute revealed 51% of Canadians and 70% of Québecers wrongly believe that we elect the prime minister. It harkens back to my own constitutional lesson of December 2.

That the CPC would use Canadians’ ignorance to its advantage is expected. That the media and political pundits would not call the CPC and prime minister on their lies is scandalous.
