Feel-good videos have become part and parcel of politicians’ major speeches and yesterday’s introduction for Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff was no exception. All the usual buttons were pressed and polished. The production played on television without voice-over interpretation, leaving me to wonder how many English speaking Canadians noticed the video’s sole reference to sexual orientation was in French only; and why did the producers think the French speaking audience would be more welcoming to a gay-positive message than the English audience?
