From the mouths of the idiots savants comes the accusation that the AH1N1 flu pandemic is the result of the NAFTA trade agreement between the USA, Canada and Mexico. Sure, and Mexico was un-crowded, pristine and pollution-free before NAFTA. Moreover, scientists have yet to determine if or how the new virus emerged and infected humans.
My empathies are with the tourism workers in Mexico who are facing an uncertain short-term future (believing this will pass and travel will resume) as they are with the farmers who are suffering because journalists with no more ethics than those at The Star repeat nonsense that you can get the flu from eating pork.
Shame on Common Frontiers for using this human tragedy for inappropriate purposes and shame on The Star for giving it top-of-page coverage on the website.
