Another myth shattered! We thought it was liberals and LIberals keeping the baristas busy making lattes and cappuccinos for the political elite, while neocons slurped double-doubles to wash down their TimBits.
Latte-sipping elites, ensconced in comfy chairs and typing away at laptops in their local Starbucks, are a fixture of Canadian politics today. The stereotype is used – often scornfully – to describe Liberal voters, probably from downtown Toronto.

Alas we know better now, thanks to important new research, that there are more Starbucks serving up premium caffeine for the elites in Stephen Harper's Calgary-Southwest riding than in either Jack Layton's Toronto-Danforth or Michael Ignatieff's Etobicoke-Lakeshore. Unfortunately, the report doesn't reveal the latte density in the elites' enemy #1 John Baird's Ottawa-West-Nepean.
I, for one, will be more careful about pulling out my Apple iPad and working on my blog while sipping my venti-bold-black and enjoying my favourite lemon-poppy seed cake.
