A correction is necessary. It wasn't a coincidence and it wasn't a leak. It was the timed release, by the presumed victim, of the results of an access to information request. Helena Guergis hoped to embarrass the prime minister and, by extension, her local opponent, through exposing how a Conservative Party operative could so easily smear her reputation and no one in the party would come to her defence, even after the RCMP confirmed there was no evidence to support the accusations.
