"Pope Benedict lashed out Friday at Canada for allowing same-sex marriage and abortion, saying the policies resulted from Catholic politicians ignoring the values of their religion" according to a CBC report today.
Well jratz (a lovely nickname coined by another blogger) - when you have personally apologised to all the children who were assaulted by your church's priests and nuns and when you have begged for forgiveness for all the gay and lesbian youth who have committed suicide because of your church's teachings and condemnation of them and when you have sought forgiveness for condemning millions to death by AIDS through your church's opposition to the use of condoms.... then and only then will you have any right to voice an opinion about Canada's democratically chosen way.
And I'll still tell you to take your opinions and shove them! Canada and the world don't need you or your obsolete opinions.
To criticise our MPs, especially the RC ones, for their immorality in not making laws that are 100% consistent with papal dogma while remaining silent on sexual and physical abuse of children by priests - well ultimate hypocrisy is an inadequate description. If the RC church wants to draft our laws, maybe it could start paying taxes instead of hiding behind the separation of church and state when it's convenient and interfering when it suits its regressive agenda. My disgust is unlimited!
