marriage on the rise in Canada – preserving family values?

Data released by Statistics Canada show a slight upturn in the number of Canadians getting married, but the numbers may be driven by the number of same-sex couples getting hitched.

Since Ontario does not record whether marriages are same-sex or not, it’s not possible to know what proportion of new marriages are in this category (BC does, and it’s 3.5%), but clearly it’s same-sex couples who have reinvigorated the tradition of matrimony.
